Think Out Loud [31] Music that reaches inside and holds on

I fell in love with Say Something by A Great Big World, featuring Christina Aguilera. They performed it on The Voice last night. So I'm sharing it with you guys.
Is anyone else out there watching The Voice this season? Any favorites? I love Caroline, James, and Preston.

  1. This is a great song, Robyn. I've listened it twice already. :)
    Thank you for sharing it.

    1. I don't know how many times I've listened to it. I just love the words, the way it sounds. You're flying post is beautifully intense, Athina.

  2. Thanks for sharing this, Robyn. I love this song! Of course, I'd never heard it until just now. You know I don't watch t.v. so no Voice for me. But I do love Christina Aguilera's voice. :)

    Have a wonderful day!!

    1. I'd never heard it before The Voice either, then I checked them out on youtube, my go-to procrastination shop. Like you have time for TV anyway. Be honest, do you have one of those treadmills designed with a desk so you can work on the computer and walking a few miles? I'd only add to my stitch count.

    1. Ha! Kat reminds me of Amanda Palmer. I think of you when she sings. Not just her voice either, but her spirit. I love Blake too!

  4. I don't watch The Voice but keep up with what's going on somehow, lol. Christina has quite the voice! Pretty song. :) God I love music sooo much! And the way you described it in your title is dead on - "reaches inside and holds on." So many groups make me feel so many different things. Austin City Limits made me realize how much I've missed going to concerts. My deafness is totally worth all the ones I've gone to over the years, not to mention blasting some great bands in my car. :)

  5. I haven't been to concerts in forever. My favorites were the smaller nighttime coffee house type deals. Whenever I feel like I'm just not connecting with life, it's usually because I stopped singing. I'm terrible, but there is nothing more freeing then belting out to your favorite songs. After my divorce I made sure to dance around the apartment (usually with John) and let the music help me. I forgot about the ringing in your ears after a hardcore concert. That made me smile. I hope you're doing well. Do you have the for sale sign up yet?

  6. I saw this performance and loved it! I was also struck by how great Xtina sounds when she's not trying to outshriek someone. (I say that as a fan - I have all of her music!) :)

    1. I'm totally with you. I loved seeing a softer side to her voice and performance. And this song was such a surprise because it was so low key and personal. I saw on youtube that Xtina approached A Great Big World because she loved the song so much. Can you imagine being a little indie band with a ten thousand hits here and there on youtube getting a call from such a superstar asking to sing their song? Awesome!

  7. I have watched the French version of Voice, and it's pretty good, even if I think their voting system is a little bit strange. I do love all things music, though, and there are other shows still going strong over here as well.

    Have a fantastic Friday, Robyn!

    1. When I'm procrastinating, I hit up all the music talent shows on youtube. I've watched so much Britain's Got Talent. Some of the judging isn't even in English, but I sure do love the singing. I'm still thinking about your Debbie Macomber review. I'm number 20 on the waitlist so it will be right around Christmas time when I get to read it. How timely!

  8. OMG!!! I found out about them last month through one of my authors because she used this song as her character's sad moment song in their relationship. And I fell in love with it!!! I like this version! Adding Christina's voice just add depth and more emotions into the meaning of the lyrics.

    1. This band is so cool! I have a few new favorite songs since I started blogging. I absolutely love being introduced to new music, especially since I don't listen to the radio. This song really sank its teeth in when I saw it.
