Think Out Loud [40] Sing!

Will had his first choir concert tonight. His first choir concert ever! I could have cried, I loved it so much! I loved watching him tiptoe to find me in the crowded audience. He's shy and he prefers people didn't sing in public, but there he stood singing with his class. There are moments in life you want to bottle and keep forever. When my grandma's dementia started eating away at her precious bottle of amazing moments, she remembered Will. She'd met him twice and he beat out almost a century of living. John gets his chance to turn me into a bouncing, cheering mom next month when he starts soccer. I'm so ready to be a sports mom. I'm totally going to make up songs for him.

Think Out Loud is a little meme with a grand idea! Post whatever the heck you want. Step outside your blogger world, or not. Share whatever you want. See, grand. Come and join us. We're cool people.

  1. Wow Robyn. There are no words for a mom to really describe her feelings about her kids. You are right about those moments in life. We should bottle them and keep them forever. You made me think some of mine. :)
    Have a great day.

    1. It was one of my favorite moments for sure. I get all those scenes in movies and TV shows now where the parents get all weepy over their kid on stage playing a carrot or something.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Athina!

    1. I took a few pictures, but normally I have no discipline with taking photos. I just want to play not look through a lens. But the boys are such hams so they love to pose. I really enjoyed your TOL post, Ki.

  3. HE SANG!! This...this is the stuff, Robyn!! I'm thrilled you got this memory. I hope to hear more about it and I can't wait to hear all about John's first soccer game! *HUGS* to you, girl!!

    1. He sang! It was a packed gym, which was just so cool that so many families turned out for a little winter choir concert. Will stood in the bottom row front and center next to his friend who is not shy at all. The two have been in the same autism program for years and it was like they were supporting each other, the introvert and the extrovert.

I can't wait for soccer too! He wants to play football (against the Seahawks-I tried reasoning with him and it didn't go well).

      Hugs right back!!

  4. Goosebumps! I love it when I can watch a performance my kids participate in, whether that is sports, music or the circus (yes, both of my daughters are in a circus school!).

I'm so glad you loved this, and that you have bottled up your moment for later perusal :)

Have a fantastic Friday, my friend!

    1. Circus school?! Every kid's dream! That is so cool. I talked to one of the dads today and he was just as giddy about getting to watch his son on stage. Our sons have been in the same autism program for years and I think we never saw this as an option, a choir concert with the rest of the school. I could barely sit in my seat. I was practically breathing down the neck of the guy in front of me. Just thinking about it has me about ready to clap and cheer.

      Happy reading, Lexxie!

  5. As parents we need to cherish each moment of our childrens lives. They grow up too quickly and there are no garantees of how long those memories we hold precious will last.

    1. Cherish is right, Carol. I find myself replaying moments with them until I have it down enough I could tell them stories. Kids love hearing stories about themselves...until they're teenagers probably. Too bad for them. I hope you have a great weekend!

  6. I'm not a very emotional person, but I cry every time my son gets on stage and sings. Every. Single. Time. I love it so much. I'm glad you got to treasure that :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. That is so great, Jaclyn. I remember you sending out your mayday message last year when baseball (?) was taking over and you couldn't post as much as you wanted. I just thought that was so cool, the sports mom part. It was very inspiring.

    1. I wrote this TOL right after I put the boys to bed I was so excited to share. See, it's not just a meme, Think Out Loud is such a cool place to go and share.

  8. Very sweet post, Robyn! I'm glad you were able to get some pics, but isn't that always the dilemma? Whether to try to take pics to capture the moment, or to just try to soak in the experience.

Good luck being a soccer mom. :)

    1. Thanks, Stephanie! Soak in the experience or capture the moment is the dilemma. I went a while not taking pictures and I missed out preserving some prime time milestones. I try harder now.

      Happy reading (and movie-going)!

  9. So sweet. I teared up when you said you'd like to bottle those kind of moments. And the part where Will tiptoed to find you in the audience. I know exactly what you mean about keeping moments like that forever. Can't wait to hear the songs you make up for him when he starts soccer! <3

    1. It was one of the happiest moments of my life just to see him up there with all the other kids. I was thrilled before he tiptoed to see me in the audience. Dang, I was a grinning/squealing fool sitting on the edge of my seat.

John' soccer cancelled due to low enrollment, so I'm going to try basketball. Songs will happen no matter the sport. Will is doing track and field special olympics but he won't let me sing to him, except for one song that I made up when I was pregnant with him and sang all the time.
