Sidekick Showcase [43] Epic Love Interest!

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday, is a weekly bookish meme, hosted here by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on my page. Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fit's in the week's topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post theirs throughout the week as well

Charlie Hunnam by Gage Skidmore 3So many choices my brain can't function. I'll start with my first really fangirl crush since I started reading fiction, Adam Hauptman from the Mercy Thompson series. Adam is an alpha werewolf. Even without the fur and fangs he commands every room he enters. He's so beautiful to Mercy, she acts like a real girl around him and I love that. I also love that she fights every instinct to bow down to him and he fights every instinct to ask that of her. If you cross him, too bad for you. If I was casting Adam, I'd pick Charlie Dunnam because oh my goodness, why not, right?
“Mercy," said my mother thoughtfully, "you never told me your werewolf neighbor was quite that hot.”

I posed this challenge to my own sidekicks.
Clark Gable as Rhett Butler portraitMy mom chose Rhett Butler. I never read Gone with the Wind, but I did watch the movie. Epic for sure. Rhett is the epitome of suave!

Tom Mison

My sister chose Seth Mortensen from Richelle Mead's Georgina Kincaid series. Seth is a famous writer, one of Georgina's favorites in fact. He's dreamy in the hot geek kind of way. He wears ridiculous shirts. He has a pure heart and more than once he pisses me off beyond belief, which is commonplace when it comes to Richelle Mead characters. Uh, but this is Shannon's pick, so...here's a quote. Oh, and she thinks Sleepy Hollow actor Tom Mison would be a perfect Seth.
“Sleep with Seth Mortensen? Good grief. It was the most preposterous thing I'd ever heard. It was appalling. If I absorbed his life force, there was no telling how long it'd be until his next book came out.”
Richelle Mead, Succubus Blues

“Oh God," I groaned, "Seth Mortensen just said 'fucking' out loud. The end of times are near.”

    1. So many books, Athina! I am right there with you. Before I started blogging I had tons of books I wanted to read, now it's just ridiculous! The weekend has been a good one, not much reading, but lots of family time.

  2. Ooo the mercy thompson series sounds interesting!
After the book I'm reading, i'm planning on starting the Morganville series (might take me a while but non sparkly vampires are soo worth it!), and then I''m def. reading Mercy Thompson!:)
    Thanks for the awesome recommendations!
Hope you have a fabulous week:)

    1. Yay Morganville! I love that series. I can't wait for your reviews! I think I started Morganville before Mercy Thompson too. No one sparkles, promise. I wouldn't want to meet even the kindest vamp in either Caine's or Briggs' world. Nope.

I hope you have a fabulous week too!

  4. ADAM HAUPTMAN. There are no words except I cannot wait for the next Mercy Thompson to release!! I also love the way Adam treats Mercy, and their relationship is so cute! I'd actually really love for Patricia Briggs to do something on Jesse, YA or Adult, I think it would be awesome.
I love Seth as well :)

    1. Oh my gosh, I can't wait for the next Mercy book either! I never thought about how cool it would be to have Briggs branch off into YA or Adult with Jesse. I love Adam's daughter. Since Moon Called she's been this fierce girl no matter what. That would be totally awesome!

I'm a Seth fan too, but I wish Mead did a spinoff of that series, Carter is the coolest angel.

  5. ***SWOONS*** I want me an Adam soooooo bad. My goodness, he is definitely on my list of book boyfriends. Not only does he know exactly what Mercy needs and let her be her, but he's also a loving dad. My kind of man right there. I only saw the movie for Scarlet too LOL :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

  6. OMG! Sorry I missed this post, Robyn...Super Bowl suckiness and all... *haha*

Okay, Adam Hauptman is H.O.T.!!!! Yep, I love me some Adam, too. You're so right about Mercy acting like a girl around him and it's a beautiful thing that they each fight instinct where the other is concerned. But you know I'm gonna call dibs, right? I'm pretty sure I read him first, too! *HAHAHAHAHA** Oh, and Charlie Dunnam is an excellent choice. :)

Rhett Butler is classic and suave. Totally swoon-worthy.

And you tell your sister I completely agree with her choice! Seth was my first book boyfriend when I branched out to PR/UF. You know, the whole author/geek thing really works for me. *ha* I don't know of Tom Mison but he's a pretty good choice.

Can't wait to see next week's picks, Robyn! *hugs*

I can't believe you're claiming Adam and Seth! Okay, so I read Moon Called fall of 2009. When did you read it? Let's go.hehehahaha
