Oh my gosh, I seriously can't choose. So I'll go back in time and pick one of my all time favorites. It's swoon-worthy. It makes me smile and sing along in pure dramatic fashion. Yeah, I'm going with You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling by the Righteous Brothers from Top Gun. That's right. I'm a Top Gun girl. I freaking love that movie. Goose, man. Still breaks my heart! So swoon, sing, shout. Let's play this month of May.
My mom chose Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen from Philadelphia. Oh that movie. It's heavy and wonderful and epic. This song reaches inside and always makes me feel big. That's a good thing.
My sister chose Money (That's what I want) by Flying Lizards from Empire Records. Here's the song in the movie. It's classic 90's teen rom-com! I love this movie too! I happen to have the soundtrack because I borrowed it from a guy while he was sort of my guy but then he wasn't. Good soundtrack.
Oh, here is April's silliness Youtube playlist LINK.
And May's soundtrack Youtube playlist LINK.
OMG! I love Top Gun too, Robyn! That movie ROCKED! And Philadelphia was amazing. Great choices! Hmm, I'm going to have to think about this a little...my choice will, of course, come from an older movie since I don't watch many these days. *ha* Oh, and I too really smile when I hear a song chosen by you or Jaclyn. That IS the good stuff! Happy Monday, girlie! I'm exhausted from staying up too late with Hank & Roxie! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do another soundtrack song month because there are too many that I love. And hey I picked an older movie too! I don't think I'll ever quit loving Top Gun. I haven't added the boys' picks yet. John is going with Scooby Doo. Will won't talk to me because I took his computer away. I can't wait to see what songs you all pick. Do you remember the movie you were talking about that you couldn't remember the title...Leap Year. I remembered it on the plane.
DeleteI stayed up way too late with Hank & Roxie too. Now I've finished the book and I want more. That one is a re-read for sure.
Ah YAY I LOVE Empire Records. Adore it!! My fav from the movie is Sugar High. I even gave Zane his middle name from the actor Ethan Embry that plays Mark. O-R-A-N-G-E. It's Rex Manning Day! Oh my gosh, I'm totally living in that movie right now LOL. I was jamming along to all the songs while writing up my post for the night so thank you for some great background tracks. I just lost it a bit because every time I talk about Empire Records with people other than my besties in high school, they have no idea what I'm talking about. Great picks! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteYes! Another Empire Records fan! I was obsessed. Completely. The guy I borrowed the CD from actually won serious points with me because he loved the movie. We have it on VHS but when I looked into getting it on DVD there were a lot of complaints in the reviews that they altered the movie, cut some of the best parts, added crap. I'm going to have to watch it again this week. You got me all jazzed about it! I love Sugar High too! Yes, It's Rex Manning Day. Shan and I quoted that movie forever. How fun. I'm totally smiling right now.
DeleteOh, I love soundtracks too!! I can't stop singing every time I watch my favorite movies. But if I had to choose, I have an all time favorite!
ReplyDeleteCell block tango from the movie Chicago!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA6R1DMb-Z8
Great choices here, Robyn, but I must admit that I am with your mom here! I choose Philadelphia . Amazing song!
Thanks for sharing, Robyn. A great song can always make a difference.
Oh my gosh, I love Chicago and that's one of my favorite songs! What a great pick. It's playing right now. Isn't that Philadelphia song amazing! Do you ever think about what song would be playing in your life at a particular moment? Or do you create a soundtrack for your stories?
DeleteI don't create soundtracks about my stories, but I tend to listen to a song that inspires me when I write. High volume and the same song playing repeatedly while I'm lost in the story. I love those moments. :)
DeleteI don't think about songs and moments, but recently, I love listening A Great Big World (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2U0Ivkn2Ds ) on the road back from work.
Do you pick songs? I bet you do, right? :)
