Q: Is there a song that reminds you of a book? Or vice versa? What is the song & the book?

The song Smile by Lily Allen holds a special place in my heart for most awesome morale boosting break up songs ever. When I read the opening scene of Easy by Tammara Webber I related to being the recipient of lame break up words. Jacqueline didn't get as pissed as I did, but in my head I sang Smile, you know for solidarity sake. (Please note the song contains profanity and the actual music video goes in a different direction than I envision when I listen to the song.)

Okay, one more song and book, Faster by Matt Nathanson makes me think of Shane and Claire in The Morganville series. Shane is so cool (maybe not in the last book) and the way he loves Claire is young and fresh and hot; it makes me think of this song.

  4. Nice answer! I haven't heard the song, smile before, but I'm glad it did help you. Haven't read Easy by Tamara Webber. I know it's a good romance book, have seen lots of positive reviews on it. Maybe I'll give it a try someday.

Happy Friday and do have a wonderful weekend! :)

    1. Easy has the romance for sure, and it's on the steamy side. No murder mysteries though! Nothing gruesome (except the behavior of a certain character). I know you don't combine your music love and your book love. I wonder if after reading all these FF's if you start hearing songs and thinking of the books we all paired them with.

  5. Nice choices! I have yet to read either of those books, but I do like those songs

Thanks for stopping by my FF! I followed you back via GFC.

    1. I think this is one of my favorite FF's next to newbie blogger blunders, that one was so fun. This time around people keep selecting books I have yet to hear about. Thanks for commenting and for the follow back!

  6. Okay, I'll bite. The song "I Knew You Were Trouble" by Taylor Swift reminds me of all the bad-boys in every book I've read. The most recent one I can think of is Remington Tate from "Real".....:o) Nevaeh

  7. I never paid attention to the lyrics for Smile, but you're right it is PERFECT for the first part of Easy. Thanks for stopping by my FFF. New follower.

    1. The first time I heard the song I laughed, then sang along with glee. The video is not my thing, but I'm usually that way with music videos. I try not to watch them. Thanks for commenting and for the follow back!

    1. I know what you're saying about the last book. I had a lot to say to the pages as I read them at lightning speed. Michael didn't fare well with me. I was pissed with everyone actually. I can't wait for the next one.

  11. Hi! Cool song choices, but haven't read the books. I like to read without music although I love music. Just don't like being distracted, which will always happen when a song I love comes on. :)

    1. Oh, I get distracted, I just don't need music to be the cause. I need the right head space more than the right physical space. But I love the quiet too! Thanks for stopping by and for the follow. Happy Friday!!

  12. Nice words. Thanks! You selected Say Aah and then I couldn't figure out which mixed CD had that song when I was in the car after I read your FF. I'll have to burn another CD. Thanks for stopping by and for the follow!

  13. Aw, this reminded me of a song I listened for like days straight, Hey there Delilah, and it wasn't even a break up. It's my favorite song, I still remember him singing it lol.

    1. Yes yes yes. I love that song! Songs like that carry you off to another place. I remember before my anger phase listening to Adele over and over. I haven't returned to her music even now post anger.

    2. I love Someone like you, I listen to that all the time lol, it has become my second favorite. All because of the same guy lol, I think I need to move on already

    3. That's the one, Rivie. I can't listen to it now. I've moved on, but I feel like the same person who will make all the same mistakes again. I need a new song for getting over myself now that I'm over the guy.

    4. Then you need an awesome song! That's another thing I'm not good at lol. They have just come to me. Hey There Delilah was because he was actually singing it and after he left, well, we both left, well, it's not like that exactly, ugh, is a complicated weird story lol, anyway after that, I just started listening and I just loved it! Someone like you, I saw a You Tube video where the girl that plays Lili in Modern Family was singing it and I looked it up and just loved the lyrics.

    5. Oh boy, he was singing that song. Goodness that's a love story Rivie. I should throw this challenge at my sister. She makes great mix CD's for me. I'll tell her I want a flirty/awesome chick theme. I think she'll tap into her ABC Family guilty pleasure shows.

    1. Morganville is one of my favorites too! I can't wait for Fall of Night. I told my mom and sister the theme for this week's sidekick and before my sister could open her mouth I said Lexxie already picked Shane. I knew she was headed straight for him for All American!

  15. I haven't read either of those books! Morganville is on my list though, so now I already have a song to go with it. ;-)
